Event Description (Written by Tad Hargrave):
If you’re seeing this event, it’s because you’re someone I’d consider to be a hub in the conscious, good living, sustainability and green scene. And I’m inviting you to an invite only, potluckish, ‘pilgrimage’ themed party. Why that theme? Here’s the story . . .
My dear colleague Nicole Moen from Victoria is going to be in Edmonton for the week (and plans to visit our fair city often). She’s just beginning to do workshops and one on one work with people around this experience many people have: they look at the front door of their homes and just want, more than anything, to walk out the door and . . . keep going. Not even knowing where. Just needing to walk out and walk on.
Nicole’s sense is that this urge is extremely important to honour and follow – that it’s our souls calling on us to move, to open up space inside ourselves, to notice, to listen. And my sense is that Nicole is extraordinary. And this work around ‘pilgrimage’ seemed like the kind of work a lot of us are engaged in – helping people figure out those next steps in their life. So, I thought I’d host this gathering in Nicole’s honour and in honour of this work we all share.
PLEASE BRING:
- some delicious snackerel or drinks
- someone you respect who you think would love the theme of this party

Nicole MoenIn a wide variety of capacities, Nicole Moen has been working in the field of integrative medicine and healing for over 15 years. For her, the health, sustainability and resilience of individuals is intrinsic to the ecological health, sustainability and resilience of the planet. Her recent and ongoing work with Healing Cities has been an opportunity to work toward blending, in a very grounded “concrete” way, the imperatives of whole human health (physical, mental/emotional, social, spiritual) with sustainable green planning initiatives of built space. Most recently she has been working on launching a major project about pilgrimage having noticed that an astonishing number of people are struggling with an urge to walk out their front doors, but dismiss it as crazy or irresponsible. She wants to suggest that it may well be their hearts offering up a way to ditch the routine, relax, and open up some space to shift the issue with which they are struggling. That urge to walk might be a call that needs to heeded – even if it is only for 10 minutes or a half hour of literal walking out your own front door. Having walked several pilgrimages now, she has noticed that when we frame a walk or a trip as pilgrimage, something changes, serendipity happens and we return to our lives changed. We shift from being a seer of sites (or blind to what is around us and inside us) to a seer from our own hearts and souls. |

Tad Hargrave – Marketing Coach for HippiesTad Hargrave is a hippy who developed a knack for marketing. Despite years of activism, he finally had to admit he was a marketing nerd and, in the end, he became a marketing coach for hippies. Maybe it was because he couldn’t stand seeing his hippy friends struggle to promote their amazing, green and holistic projects. Maybe it was because he couldn’t keep a 9-5 job to save his life. Whatever the reason, for almost a decade, he has been touring his marketing workshops around Canada, bringing refreshing and unorthodox ideas to conscious entrepreneurs and green businesses that help them grow their organizations and businesses (without selling their souls). And, over the years, he has become recognized as a leader in the wider movement towards green and local economies. |

Kim Tanasichuk – Web Designer & Intuitive GardenerI am a web and graphic designer for wholistic and eco businesses. What I like about my work is connecting with wonderful clients and intuitively creating their websites that incorporates the functionality they need, but I also create a sacred space while I work, where I hold their intentions and dreams and feelings and infuse it within the website. I find myself saying often, that clients like me because we, “speak the same language”. The other side of me is most sacred. Let’s call it the Intuitive Gardening side. Much of my journey has centred around connecting with Nature. I love learning, and exploring many aspects of plant life. I’ve worked in greenhouses, landscaping, landscape design, and tons more etc. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Biology. But I’ve also explored and played with deeper, subtle connections with Nature. As a teen I had some spiritually awakening experiences about connecting with Nature on a deeper level. Sometimes I give workshops called “Intuitive Gardening” and I continue to explore and play in this field. In this, I have alot to say and alot to explore! |
